Contraception and Sexual Health
We offer a wide range of contraception and sexual health advice at the practice. The doctors and the nurses are experienced in advising and prescribing all methods. Detailed information about each contraceptive method can be found at the Sexwise website, www.sexwise.org.uk.
Please have a look at your options.
Contraception is free and can be obtained from GPs, Contraception and Sexual Health Clinics and some walk in centres.
Emergency contraceptive pills are also available from most pharmacies. Please visit www.nhs.uk/where-can-i-get-emergency-contraception.
At the practice we offer confidential advice on emergency contraception, barrier methods such as the diaphragm, the combined pill, progesterone only pill, implant, progesterone injection and intrauterine contraceptive devices (Coils).
Dr Teasdale runs coil fitting clinics every fortnight and after a telephone discussion with her, she will book the appointment for fitting. Please complete our Request an Appointment form to request you telephone discussion with Dr Teasdale.
Although we do not fit implants at the practice, we can refer you to another local surgery for this to be done.
Although we will always talk about sexual health and sexually transmitted infections and can do swab testing and screening for some conditions, we are not a sexual health clinic and if that is a particular concern you may be directed to one of the local sexual health clinics for more detailed investigations.
